OTOAI issues legal notice to Atlys India Private Limited over defamatory statements

The Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) has taken formal legal action against Atlys India Private Limited in response to what it describes as defamatory and disparaging statements directed at the travel agent community.

Acting in its capacity as an industry association and on behalf of the travel trade fraternity, OTOAI has issued a legal notice to Atlys India Private Limited. The notice addresses concerns regarding objectionable content circulated on social media platforms that, according to the association, undermines the professionalism, credibility and reputation of licensed travel agents across the country.

OTOAI stated that travel agents play a critical role in India’s travel and tourism ecosystem, providing expert guidance, consumer protection and end-to-end service support to travellers. Any content that misrepresents or disparages the community, the association said, has the potential to mislead consumers and harm industry trust.

Through this legal action, OTOAI has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the interests of its members and the wider travel trade, while advocating for responsible communication and fair representation within the industry.

The association has expressed hope that the matter will be addressed promptly and constructively, in the interest of maintaining mutual respect and professionalism across the travel and tourism sector.
