More than 10,000 people are expected to participate in the ninth edition of Maha Yog Dhyan Kumbh (MYDK 9.0), a five-day meditation gathering scheduled to be held in Rishikesh from October 23 to 27. The event will take place at Yog Mahotsav Ghat, Muni Ki Reti, bringing together spiritual leaders, meditation practitioners and wellness experts.
Organised by PMC Society, an initiative of the Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement (PSSM), in association with PMC Hindi, the gathering will follow the theme ‘Inner Transformation & World Peace’. The event has been held annually since 2017, promoting meditation, conscious living and the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Among the spiritual leaders expected to attend are Swami Chidanand Saraswati, president of Parmarth Niketan, and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, international director of Parmarth Niketan. The speaker list also includes Uttarakhand Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, former CBI director D. R. Kaarthikeyan, PSSM co-founder Swarnamala Patri and Gauranga Das of ISKCON.
The programme will feature guided Anapanasati, or breath-awareness meditation, accompanied by live instrumental music. Morning meditation sessions are scheduled from 5 am to 8 am, while daily Ganga Aarti will be held from 6 pm to 6.30 pm. Spiritual discourses, classical music, Kabir bhajans and workshops on yoga, pranayama and Ayurveda will also be organised.
A key attraction will be Akhanda Dhyana, a continuous 108-hour meditation programme. Dedicated sessions for children and young people will form part of the gathering.
Participation is free and open to all, irrespective of age or prior meditation experience. Organisers plan to serve more than 1.5 lakh free sattvic meals through the Annaprasadam Seva initiative.
The event is being held in association with Incredible India, Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam and Swami Narayan Ashram, with support from the Ministry of AYUSH. A Sant Sammelan on Sanatan spirituality and conscious living will mark the concluding day, October 27.
