ADTOI partnering with the second edition of ‘Chalo Dekhein Apna Desh’ a National Tourism Conclave, organised by Argus News

The second edition of ‘Chalo Dekhein Apna Desh’ a national tourism conclave, organised by Argus News, was held on Saturday the 18th March 2023 in Bhubaneswar. Chairman of Indian Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC) and BJP spokesperson, Dr Sambit Patra inaugurated the conclave at a hotel in the State Capital. Speaking on the occasion, Patra said that the conclave will boost rural tourism in the country.

Dr. Patra also highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Odisha and several potential tourist places in the State. He spoke about the artistic beauty of Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri, Sun Temple in Konark and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar. He talked about Satkosia, Bhitarkanika, Daringbadi, Hirakud and the long coastline of the Bay of Bengal.

He added that the government has taken many steps to improve tourism across the country. Pradhan for protection of archaeological J.K. Mohanty, Director of Swosti Group and Chairman of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha in his address highlighted the promotion of Rural Tourism by narrating his own experience of buying land in Chilka village in 1995 at a very cheap rate that was not fit for even agriculture. Though villagers objected to his decision he succeeded in his efforts and constructed an Eco Retreat that stopped the migration of labour the existing labour force was utilised during construction and also employed 50% of the labour force in the hotel and the services of balance folk were used as hotel suppliers/vendors.

He saw the success of rural tourism and reiterated that if I can do it why can’t others. Rural tourism will generate employment for rural people.PP Khanna, President ADTOI brought out the importance of domestic tourism in the country being the lifeline for every State and Odisha which has great tourism potential should make all-out efforts to attract domestic tourists from all parts of the country. Rural tourism is now a sought-after segment away from city life among travellers that can promote responsible and sustainable tourism which is the need of the hour. He stated the vision of Hon PM Shri N Modi to make every villager and people living in Rural Areas Atmanirbhar Bharat by skilling them and creating employment for them.
