Akasa Air welcomes its 33rd aircraft into its fleet, marking the airline’s second aircraft induction since January 2026 and reinforcing its steady and disciplined growth trajectory.
The delivery flight was operated by an all-women pilot crew—Captain Svetlana Pereira and First Officer Karen Noronha. The first leg of the ferry flight commenced from Seattle, USA, to Keflavik, Iceland, and concluded with the final leg from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Bengaluru, India.
Bearing registration number VT-YBM, the Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft arrived at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, further strengthening Akasa Air’s modern and fuel-efficient fleet.
Fleet Growth and Operational Strategy
With one of the fastest ramp-ups in Indian aviation, Akasa Air continues to closely align fleet growth with network expansion and operational readiness. This measured approach ensures sustainable scaling while maintaining high standards of service reliability and operational excellence. The latest induction enhances the airline’s ability to connect more destinations and add depth to its domestic and international network, supporting its ambition to be among the top 30 airlines globally by the end of this decade.
Passenger Comfort and Aircraft Features
Built to Akasa Air’s purpose-built specifications, the newly inducted aircraft is equipped with Safran Z200 seats, underscoring the airline’s focus on uniformity, passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and sustainability. The next-generation seating offers improved recline, ergonomic back support, plush cushioning, and integrated USB-C and USB-A charging ports, delivering a more comfortable and connected flying experience for modern travellers.
Long-Term Growth and Fleet Plan
Since commencing operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has adopted a consistent and phased approach to scale. The Boeing 737 MAX continues to form the backbone of the airline’s young, fuel-efficient fleet. Akasa Air has placed a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 193 additional aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next six years, reaffirming its commitment to supporting India’s rapidly growing air travel demand.
