Belarus opens e-visa access to Indian travellers

Belarus has added India to the list of countries whose citizens can obtain electronic visas for entry into the country, creating a more streamlined visa process for Indian leisure and business travellers.

The change follows revised visa rules adopted by the Belarusian Council of Ministers on September 14 on the initiative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The move is aimed at simplifying entry procedures while supporting stronger people-to-people, business and commercial links between Belarus and India. The shift towards online visa processing is expected to reduce administrative requirements for travellers and make it easier for Indian businesses to plan visits, B2B meetings and discussions related to investment and trade.

Belarusian authorities view India as an important and rapidly expanding market, with the new visa facility expected to support greater bilateral tourism and business activity.

The development is also expected to be supported by plans for direct air connectivity between Minsk and Indian destinations, including Mumbai and Goa. Such connectivity could provide an additional boost to travel between the two countries and make Belarus more accessible to Indian travellers.

Alongside the inclusion of India in the e-visa framework, Belarus has also updated several aspects of its wider visa regulations, including documentation requirements, terminology and administrative procedures.

For the Indian travel trade, the expanded e-visa eligibility provides an additional facilitation measure for promoting Belarus as an emerging European destination for leisure, business and experiential travel.
