IndiGo announces Jaisalmer as the 81st domestic destination in the 6E network

IndiGo, India’s preferred airline has announced Jaisalmer, Rajasthan as the 81st domestic and 113th overall destination in the 6E network. The airline will launch new daily connections between Jaisalmer-Delhi, Jaisalmer-Mumbai, Jaisalmer-Jaipur and Jaisalmer-Ahmedabad, effective October 12, 2023. These new routes will significantly bolster tourism, trade, and mobility by connecting Jaisalmer to some of the commercial and industrial hubs of the country. This will also provide customers with increased flight options some of the not only be beneficial for business travellers but also mesmerize leisure travellers. With the addition of this new destination in IndiGo’s extensive domestic route network, the airline will strategically promote regional connectivity, and economic growth by providing a gateway for tourists and business travellers to and from Jaisalmer.

Jaisalmer, a mystical city in the state of Rajasthan, is situated on the westernmost frontier of India and rises from the heart of the Thar Desert. Also attributed as the “Golden City of India” owing to the yellow sand and yellow sandstone used in the architecture of the town that gives it a golden look, Jaisalmer is famous all over the world for its palaces and forts of spectacular opulence. Jaisalmer traces its inception to the 12th century. It has transformed itself into one of India’s key tourist destinations as well as claims an important position among the tourist attractions spread all over the desert land of Rajasthan. The city’s most prominent landmark is the Jaisalmer Fort, also called Sonar Qila (Golden Fort).
