Mizoram approves new ILP guidelines for visitor regulation

The Mizoram Cabinet has approved revised Inner Line Permit (ILP) guidelines aimed at strengthening the regulation of non-resident entry into the state while streamlining visitor management and administrative processes.

The updated framework is expected to improve monitoring systems for domestic visitors entering Mizoram and enhance coordination between tourism, administrative, and security authorities across the state.

Officials stated that the move is designed to ensure better governance, maintain demographic balance, and support regulated tourism growth while preserving the cultural and social identity of the region.

Industry experts believe the revised ILP guidelines could also contribute toward more organised tourism movement and improved visitor data management, particularly as Northeast India continues witnessing rising tourism interest.

The development comes amid increasing focus on sustainable tourism practices, regional infrastructure development, and responsible travel management across India’s northeastern states.
