SUJÁN, announces the acquisition of the iconic Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro from Chiawa Safaris, and its expansion into Africa. The acquisition marks SUJÁN’s first significant international expansion beyond India and is an important step in building a global portfolio of exceptional conservation-led wilderness experiences.
The acquisition establishes SUJÁN’s presence in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, one of Africa’s most pristine and biodiverse wilderness areas.
Over the next four years, SUJÁN aims to more than double its portfolio through selective expansion aligned with its conservation and hospitality values. The addition of Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro reflects its considered approach to growth anchored in shared values, conservation integrity, and long-term custodianship.

For over 25 years, SUJÁN has created exceptional wilderness experiences rooted in conservation, responsible stewardship, and a strong sense of place. Its camps support the protection and restoration of natural habitats while creating meaningful and lasting opportunities for neighbouring communities.
Set along the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro are internationally recognised for their exceptional wildlife experiences, intimate hospitality, and deep respect for the Lower Zambezi ecosystem. Chiawa Safaris has established an outstanding reputation over more than three decades, underpinned by principles that closely reflect SUJÁN’s own.

Commenting on the acquisition, Jaisal Singh, Founder and Chairman of SUJÁN, said:
“Africa has always been a special place for me- not only for its extraordinary wildlife and landscapes, but for the role it has played in demonstrating how thoughtful, and responsible tourism can be a partner in the conservation process. This is far more than a geographic expansion for SUJÁN. It is a natural extension of what we have believed and practised for more than 25 years: that exceptional hospitality must have a greater purpose, protecting the natural world, strengthening local communities and ensuring that wild places remain wild for generations to come.”
Anjali Singh, Co-Founder of SUJÁN and Executive Chairperson of ANAND Group, said:
“Since its inception, SUJÁN has been guided by the belief that meaningful hospitality can foster a deeper connection with the natural world. As we expand beyond India, we remain firmly anchored in the principles of authenticity, stewardship and conservation that have shaped our journey from the beginning.
Welcoming Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro into the SUJÁN family is an important milestone, bringing together two family-founded organisations united by a common purpose. We look forward to building upon Chiawa’s remarkable legacy and demonstrating how thoughtful hospitality can make an enduring contribution to the protection of ecosystems, the empowerment of local communities and the preservation of wilderness.”
The acquisition advances SUJÁN’s ambition to build a globally recognised portfolio of unique conservation-led wilderness camps and lodges.
Following the transaction, SUJÁN’s portfolio will span some of the most ecologically significant wilderness regions across Asia and Africa, reinforcing the brand’s distinctive position at the intersection of conservation, hospitality, and transformative travel.
