SWISS expands India network with Bengaluru route and A350 rollout

SWISS International Air Lines is strengthening its presence in India with the launch of a new nonstop service between Zurich and Bengaluru, marking the airline’s first direct connection to South India and its third destination in the country after Delhi and Mumbai. The service is scheduled to commence in October 2026 and will operate five times a week.

The expansion reflects SWISS’s growing focus on India, one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets. Bengaluru’s status as a major technology, innovation, and business hub is expected to drive strong demand from corporate travellers, premium leisure passengers, and the Indian diaspora travelling to Europe and North America.

Alongside its India expansion, the airline is accelerating the deployment of its next-generation Airbus A350 aircraft across key long-haul routes. The aircraft will feature the carrier’s latest onboard experience and upgraded cabin product, supporting its broader strategy of fleet modernisation and enhanced passenger comfort.

Industry observers believe the new route will further strengthen air connectivity between India and Europe while creating additional opportunities for business travel, tourism, and international trade. The move also highlights the growing importance of Bengaluru as a global aviation gateway and reinforces SWISS’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.

The addition of Bengaluru is expected to enhance connectivity for travellers from across Southern India through Zurich, providing seamless access to destinations across Europe and North America via the broader Lufthansa Group network.
