Sun Siyam Iru Fushi reveals the first phase of its resort-wide design transformation, marking a key milestone in the evolution of the property under Sun Siyam’s newly launched Luxury Collection. The five-star resort introduces a refreshed portfolio of overwater accommodation that sets a new design direction rooted in refined island luxury and Maldivian craftsmanship.
The reimagined Water Villas and Horizon Water Villas with Private Pool represent the opening chapter of this transformation. Contemporary yet grounded, the new design language blends rustic Maldivian influences with a calm, modern sensibility. Each villa is oriented to frame the ocean and features an open-plan layout, a generous bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the lagoon, and expansive decks with layered lounging areas, suspended hammocks, and soft green accents that create a sense of relaxed, lived-in luxury.
All Horizon Water Villas now include a 22 sqm private pool with sunken seating, transforming each villa into a private sanctuary designed for sunrise rituals, unhurried afternoons, and cinematic sunsets. Bespoke touches and personalised experiences make these villas particularly appealing to couples and honeymooners seeking meaningful, intimate escapes.
The overwater portfolio comprises 40 Water Villas with Pool (123 sqm), 16 Horizon Water Villas with Pool (128 sqm), and 19 Sunset Horizon Water Villas with Pool (128 sqm), each offering a seamless balance of comfort, privacy, and connection to the surrounding lagoon.
The transformation is led by international interior design consultants Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, founders and creative directors of the London-based Studio Sixty7. Their vision introduces muted tones, natural textures, and softly sculpted forms, with gently imperfect plastered walls, tactile finishes, and breathable linens that evoke effortless barefoot luxury.
“Every element has been chosen to feel grounded and sensorial, inviting guests into a deep sense of calm,” said Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero.
Resort Manager Abdulla Atham added, “This transformation goes beyond aesthetics. It is a careful orchestration of space, service excellence, and emotional detail. From villa layouts and in-villa experiences to minibar selections, outdoor settings, views, and subtle gestures from our butlers, every moment is designed to immerse guests in the spirit of chic island living.”
With this first phase complete, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi continues its journey towards becoming a destination defined by understated luxury and authentic island character.
